After celebrating Christmas with Daddys family about two weeks later we celebrated Christmas with Mommys family. It is so nice that we celebrate Christmas twice so we can spend all our time with each family. We went over Guidu and Tahtas house at 1:00am on Christmas Day/Christmas Eve. We ate and spent time with Guidu, Tahta, Aunties Christine, Vivian, Elizabeth, Uncle Mark, and Phoebe. We opening gifts after and finally went to sleep later. I woke up early like I usually do and spent time with everyone as they finally woke up. Later in the day Nana, Uncle Timmy, Broghan and Bailey came over. And I finally got to meet Cousin Sam and play with Jaime, Leila, Caleb and the baby to be later named. Yeah! Another cousin! I’m so excited! Now I’m not the youngest! Uncle Atef, Taunte Aida, Andrew and Chrissy all came and played. Mommy and Daddy dressed me like a reindeer again… we are going to have a long talk about this as soon as I can speak. I celebrated my first Christmas today! It was so much fun! NaNa, Uncle David, Uncle Timmy, and cousins Katie, Peter, Jack, Broghan, and Bailey all came over for Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone had so much fun - we all played together and had a wonderful dinner and dessert. But the best part was when we all got to open all the presents. That was so much fun. Everyone got me wonderful gifts - toys and clothes. All things that I need right now! The next morning we went over Uncle Timmys house for a wonderful Christmas dinner - at least Mom and Dad said that it tasted good. I’m sticking to milk for a while! We all had so much fun over there, but I am not so happy with Mom and Dad. They made me wear antlers to match my reindeer shirt. We brought home my first Christmas tree and decorated it today. It was so much fun! We went to this place that had all these plants and so many trees. We walked around and Mommy and Daddy kept on pointing and looking and pointing again. Next thing you know there is a tree on the roof of our car. But imagine my surprise when Mommy and Daddy brought it in the house! It was so big - but now that I look at the pictures with me, I realize how big it really was! It smelled so good in the house. Mommy used to be in Group 5 before she graduated, and now Daddy is in Group 5. So if Mommy was pregnant with me before Daddy was in the group - that means I have been part of Group 5 longer than Daddy right?! We had so much fun at the Christmas Party. When we got there I was asleep - it was way past my bedtime, and I guess everyone took pictures with me. Daddy woke me up a little later though and I am so glad! Dr. Karacosta is so great! She held me a lot and played with me! Dr. Evans and Robin are so wonderful also, I really love spending time with them! And everyone else in the group is so much fun. Today was the best day of my life! I was made a Christian! It was very exciting and so many of my family members were there. All three of my grandparents were there, Aunties Christine, Vivian, Elizabeth, Uncles Mark and Timmy, Cousins Broghan, Baily, and Steven, my Grandaunts Connie, Heggy, Izzy, Ellie, and Granduncles Artie, Jimmy, Frank, and Aldo. Our friends Sally, Marc, Danny, Waseem, Aida, Atef, Chrissy and Andrew were also there. It was actually very complex and there were several different parts to it. Abouna Angelos was wonderful and he performed all the ceremonies and explained everything very clearly. He was so nice! 1. The Womans Absolution - was for my mom to welcome her back in the church and to cleanse her so that she could take Communion again. 2. Renouncing Satan - Mom and Dad took oaths for me since I can’t speak yet! 3. Liturgy of Baptism. 4. Baptism by Immersion - What a surprise! I was immersed in water 3 times. The first 2 were ok - at least the water was warm. But the third one was a complete surprise - and I was fully immersed head to toe! I wasn’t expecting that! But I got over it quickly - especially when Mommy and Daddy dried me, held me and then Abouna Angelos got me dressed and warm. Before he dressed me he made 36 crosses of Holy Oil - Myron - on me. Myron is made of the spices that Jesus was wrapped in when He was buried -and thats when I received the Holy Spirit.
I then attended the liturgy after taking some pictures with the family and guess what! I took my First Holy Communion. Like I said before - what a wonderful day. Daddy took me up and Abouna Youhanna gave me communion. Guidu took pictures. Then at the end of the liturgy we got to walk all around the church in a procession lead by the deacons while they sang some wonderful hymns. We ended by going up next to the alter and Abouna Youhanna took off my red sash and we took some great pictures.
After church we went home where Mom and Dad had prepared a huge brunch for all our family and friends. Rose, Brent, and Morgan also stopped by. So many of my Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents brought food that we couldn’t even finish everything. We sent people home with food and the beautiful cake! I got to celebrate my first Holiday today! It was Thanksgiving. I had a great time. I was inducted onto the wall. I bet you don’t know what that is. We have a wall in the kitchen that has markings of everyones height. Daddy loves it because he is the tallest one on it. Now I am the shortest, but don’t worry, I plan on catching up and beating him! I got to hang out with my aunts and uncle, and all my Grandparents. We had dinner and I even got to sit at the table in my own seat! And the turkey was huge! I went to my first Birthday Party today. It was for my friend Morgan - his first birthday! He’s such a big boy now. We had a lot of fun because it was also a costume party. I went as a monkey - if you cant tell. It has a banana on top of my head… Why do Mommy and Daddy make me wear crazy things? Anyways, it was fun to hang out with Morgan, he made a big mess with his cake and seemed to really enjoy himself. His Mommy and Daddy, Rose and Brent, seemed to be having a great time too. Today was a great day for me and the family. We went to St. George Greek Orthodox Church and Father George prayed the 40 Day Blessing on me and mom. I got to wear my new dress pants, vest, and tie. It was a really nice blessing and very meaningful. It welcomed me to the church and allowed mom to start taking communion again. This was such a busy week! Between studying for Pathology and posing for pictures I have been running around! The best part is that I got to meet my newest friend Daniel. He was born last week - we are only a few weeks apart and he lives with his mom and dad -Sally and Marc just down the street. I can’t wait to show him all the fun stuff we can do out here!
